Network Southeast together with Colchester in Bloom brighten up the station.

Together we have filled the half tubs on the platforms with glorious plants and added 3 large hanging baskets.

Is all looking just fabulous.

A DUCK has found an unusual place to hatch her ducklings.

The mother duck, nicknamed Blossom, has made her way up a pole on East Hill, Colchester, and set up home in a plant pot set up by organisers of Colchester in Bloom.

Blossom is now using the plant pot to nest and sit on her seven eggs. Dave Harris, secretary of Colchester in Bloom, said: “She is the reason the flowers are not doing well on this pole, but we feel that Colchester in Bloom can make way for mum duck to bring her clutch into the world, with a gestation of about 28 days.

“We will get the RSPCA to help us after hatching to escort mum over a busy road and into the pond at Castle Park.”

Anglia in Bloom judges are due to visit the town to look at blooms, and Blossom, on Friday.

Abbeygate Street bloomers out in force

10am – 4pm Abbeygate Street

stall run by residents of Abbeygate Street to raise money in order to buy more planters to go on the lampposts and along the entrance to the underpass.
Brick a brack, books, clothes, cakes, tennis balls, teddys, brass, scalves, hats, handbags, pluss anything anyone brings along tomorrow…

We hope to make this street in the middle of our town a beauty spot, and somewhere to add joy to all and every one that passes through.

Please come along and buy all our stock or bring things to sell, or both.
In the past year we have transformed the street, sweeping and weeding, litter picking and planting. Please come to support and help us to improve on what we have already done

Bloomers out making Colchester sparkle last Monday.
Aided by gallons of heavy rain fall Colchester Bloomers go out & help make the town sparkle by cleaning and scrubbing Sheregate Steps, one of the beauty spots in the town.

‘We nearly canceled because of the rain, but in fact it helped wash down, so the job was pretty though by the time we finished’

Bloomers out in force

Friday evening saw a number of Colchester Bloomers out planting in Crouch Street and adding to the floral display which runs in front of Boydens. There are a number of well established bush like plants there already, our contribution is just another layer.

Great thing to do, plants all from our great grower Chas Jones.

David Boyden gave us the use of a hosepipe, so all firmly watered in & the site really beginning to look very good indeed, and hopefully soon very colourful.
